Categories field mapping

When you create the connector, Sales Layer shows a default group of fields commonly used in Shopify Collections. Some are mandatory and others are optional but useful.

Mandatory fields

  • reference: Collection reference used for internal control in Sales Layer.
  • title: Collection name.

Basic fields

  • body_html: Collection description.
  • image: Collection image.
  • sort_order: Controls product order inside the collection.
  • handle: URL identifier used for SEO. If no value is sent, Shopify creates one automatically.
  • template_suffix: Controls the collection theme. If the field is enabled, it overwrites the value in Shopify. If the field is not mapped, has an invalid value, or is mapped empty, Shopify uses the default theme. If the field is disabled, the theme value is not overwritten.
  • published_scope: Controls collection availability.
  • collect_alt: Alternative text for the collection image.
  • seo_title: SEO title. The older field metafields_global_title_tag is still available for backward compatibility, but it is no longer recommended. Do not map both at the same time.
  • seo_description: SEO description. The older field metafields_global_description_tag is still available for backward compatibility, but it is no longer recommended. Do not map both at the same time.
