What’s new in version 1.13
Version 1.13 of the Sales Layer Shopify connector introduces compatibility with Shopify Admin API 2026-07, along with improvements to inventory synchronization, error handling, authentication, collections, and metafields.
- Inventory synchronization: Stock updates have been adapted to Shopify's updated inventory API. If an inventory update fails, the connector now displays an error to help identify the problem.
- Clearer synchronization errors: When an item is successfully saved in Shopify but part of its data fails to synchronize, the connector now provides clearer information about the item's synchronization status. This makes it easier to identify partial synchronization failures.
- Empty boolean metafields: Empty boolean metafields no longer generate synchronization errors.
- Improved authentication: The connector now renews expiring access tokens more reliably and avoids incorrect Missing scopes warnings.
- Collection assignments: Collection assignments are now recorded only after Shopify confirms that the operation was successful.
- Underscores in metafield namespaces: Underscores in metafield namespaces are now represented using three consecutive underscores (
___). For example, a namespace containingcustom_datais represented ascustom___data.
When do I need to update?
Version 1.13 uses Shopify Admin API 2026-07.
Previous connector versions in the 1.12.x series use Shopify Admin API 2026-01, which Shopify supports until January 16, 2027.
All Shopify connectors running version 1.12.x must therefore migrate to version 1.13 before that date.
The Sales Layer team will coordinate the migration date with you.
Do I need to make any changes?
In most cases, no action is required.
When migrating to version 1.13:
- Your existing field mappings remain unchanged.
- Your Shopify credentials and app permissions remain the same.
- Your entire catalog is not resent to Shopify.
However, review the following changes if they apply to your configuration.
JSON metafield size limit
Shopify now limits json metafields to 128 KB for apps that had not used this metafield type before April 1, 2026.
If a JSON metafield exceeds this limit:
- Shopify rejects that specific metafield.
- The connector displays an error explaining the size restriction.
- Other metafields and product data are not rejected solely because of this error.
To resolve the issue, reduce the JSON value's size or contact Shopify to request a higher limit.
Shopify-managed collections
Shopify now supports collections that use conditions or are built from other collections.
These collections are managed directly by Shopify. The Sales Layer connector does not add or remove products from them.
If you need Sales Layer to manage which products belong to a collection, use a manual collection in Shopify.
