FAQs about Versioning

Modified on Mon, 11 May at 1:18 PM

How can I know if my connector is up to date?

You can check which Shopify API version your connector is compatible with by reviewing the Activity Register tab in your Sales Layer connector.

This register shows the Shopify API version currently used by the connector.

However, the internal connector version, such as v1.Y.Z, is managed by Sales Layer and is not directly visible to customers.

If you are unsure about your connector version, contact the Customer Success team.

What should I do if Shopify retires an API version?

You do not need to take immediate action unless Sales Layer notifies you.

Sales Layer monitors the Shopify API lifecycle and manages connector updates accordingly.

If your connector is using an API version that is close to becoming obsolete, the Sales Layer team will contact you to start a controlled migration that protects compatibility and performance.

Can I test a new connector version without affecting my production store?

At the moment, this is not possible.

The current versioning model is closed and centrally managed by Sales Layer.

Future updates may include the possibility of testing connector versions in staging environments or under controlled conditions.

If you have a specific case, contact your usual Sales Layer point of contact.

What happens if my custom app does not have the required permissions?

If your custom Shopify app does not have the mandatory permissions required by a specific connector version, synchronization may fail or behave unexpectedly.

In these cases, Sales Layer will provide the list of permissions that must be updated in the app configuration.

The connector also validates this during configuration or migration.

Make sure your custom app is always updated with the required scopes.
