Understanding the Parent-Child Data Model

Modified on Fri, 22 May at 2:09 PM

A Parent-Child data model is a structured way of representing products with variations.

For example, a shirt available in sizes S, M, and L, and in colors Blue or Black.

  • The Parent is the base product.
  • The Children are the specific variants.
  • All children share the same Parent SKU.
  • Each variant has its own attributes, such as Size = M or Color = Blue.

Most marketplaces require this structure so that all variations appear together under a single product listing.
