Categories
In Shopify, categories are called collections. Shopify supports two types of collections: manual and automated. The channel can only create manual collections. If you want to use automated collections, categories should not be sent through the Sales Layer channel, because automated collections rely on selection conditions that include matching products automatically.
Variants
Variants are not mandatory. The channel only sends them when at least one attribute is added in the connector’s variant configuration. Due to Shopify limitations, a product can have up to 100 variants and a maximum of 3 attributes.
SKU
The channel uses the SKU as a key field to find products and variants in Shopify, so duplicate SKUs must not exist.
Metafields
Metafields are a flexible way to add and store additional information beyond the standard fields available by default in Shopify.
Related products and variants
Sending related products is allowed, but it is recommended to keep the number of related values as low as possible to avoid performance issues during synchronization.
